Following several large stock deliveries over the last few weeks we have lots of lovely new wooden toys to share with you.

First of all we have taken delivery of a fantastic new range of wooden play food by BigJigs. This fabulous range includes wooden toy vegetables and play fruit as well as wooden toy saucepans and toy teasets.

We’ve also decided to offer you the full range of Wonderworld kitchen toys. This range will be delivered to you direct from the manufacturer by courier and includes a toy cooker, toy fridge, toy microwave and toy washing machine amongst others.

We hope you enjoy our new range of wooden kitchen toys, toy cookers and toy food.

We were very excited this week to receive a huge delivery of more gorgeous dolls to add to our growing range. As well as our ethnic fair trade rag dolls, we now have the beautiful Gund Dolls in stock as well as Kathe Kruse designer dolls.

One of our favourites is this beautiful My First Birthday Doll by Gund. When you press her tummy she plays “Happy Birthday” and her cheeks flash!

We also have some of the too cute Giggling Girls range of dolls by Gund.

We’ve also received the first of our Kathe Kruse doll delivery. These play dolls for children are stunning with the features hand painted in the traditional Kathe Kruse style.

We’ve also received a delivery of Sesame Street hand puppets!  We have Big Bird and Elmo hand puppets and Cookie Monster and Elmo plush cuddly toys.

Here at Anara Toys we love this time of year and the reason is that February is the month when all the lovely new toys for 2008 start arriving and our stock room is once again overflowing.

We worked very hard at the trade shows this year to find as many fantastic new wooden toys as we could for you. As well as some wonderful new toys from old favourites such as Pintoy, John Crane, Wonderworld and Lanka Kade we also made some new finds with new suppliers. More on that another time.

The first thing we unpacked from the mountain of boxes that arrived was this gorgeous dolls buggy shown below.

This was quickly followed by the matching dolls rocking cradle and dolls highchair, both made from sustainable wood and with rounded corners for safety. We are thrilled with our new range of wooden dolls accessories and we hope you will be to.

We also have lots of new dolls and rag dolls for you too, including the beautiful range of super soft Gund dolls. We will showcase these for you in our next blog post.

Unfortunately there have recently been yet more toy recalls and this will undoubtedly lead to many of you being worried about the safety of your children’s toys. We’d like to reassure you that due to the overwhelming majority of our toys being wooden or soft there are no safety issues involved with any purchases made from Anara Toys.

The British Toy and Hobby Association has published a very useful page for parents about toys in the light of all the recent recalls and you can view it here 

The latest recall affects some Barbie toys and GEOTRAX toys.

Just two weeks after Mattel recalled 94,000 Fisher Price Toys in Britain and Ireland because of high levels of lead, they have announced a recall of two million dangerous toys in Britain and Ireland. The products sold in Britain are from the Polly Pocket, Doggie Daycare, Batman Magna and Barbie doll ranges and have been recalled because of fears over loose magnets. The company has also recalled 49,000 die-cast models of the Sarge character from the Disney film Cars because they were coated with paint containing high levels of lead.

The toys recalled were sold between January 2002 and January 2007.

New researched published today says that parent’s fears of bullies, paedophiles, traffic accidents, and the general increase in home entertainment of the finger-numbing, electrical kind, means that today’s children are growing up without the fun of fresh air, scuffed knees and adventure that most of us enjoyed.

The poll, by Play England, which is the start of a campaign to encourage more children to play outside, found that 21% of children play outside, compared to 71% of parents who had when they were young.

Of course with the recent terrible rain storms the summer holidays have got off to a bad start for many youngsters as young as 4. If your little angels need encouragement to explore the big outdoors why not treat them from our range of garden toys. Over the last few weeks we’ve been very busy at Anara HQ working on our soon to be launched new website. As well as lots of new toys, the new website will have new features and a fantasic new look. There is an article section containing lots of informative articles on areas of interest to parents and grandparents and we’ve also added a testimonials section. Lastly we’ve added a press page so that visitors can see where Anara Toys has been featured.
