So I know it’s only September but Christmas will be here before you know it. Christmas can be a very expensive time of the year especially if you have children and want to get them lots of toys and gifts.
If you are worried that you will be a bit low on cash this Christmas we have put together a mini guide on popular part time xmas work. The most popular Christmas jobs are in shops and last year the Sun reported that the top retailers were looking for 77,000 Christmas staff.
- Argos: 12,000
- Asda: 10,000
- Boots: 7,000
- Marks & Spencer: 20,000
- Poundland: 2000
- Sainsbury’s: 20,000
- Tesco: 6,000
Where to look for Christmas Jobs:
You local job centre is a great start. Jobcentreplus works with a lot of employers to help them fill the vacancies so you could either go to their website or call into your local job centre to see what they have available.
Monster has hundreds of Christmas jobs so whatever job you are after there is bound to be something to suit your needs. You can either search on their site or upload your CV and let the jobs find you.
If working in a shop does not appeal to you then there are plenty of other options available. Other common Xmas jobs include:
Working in a pub or restaurant:
With all the Christmas celebrations restaurants and pubs get really busy over the festive season and often take on extra staff to cope with the additional customers.
Father Christmas Work
This is one of the more unusual jobs that will be available over the Christmas period. Most department stores, shopping centres and supermarkets have a Santa’s Grotto, and they all need their very over team of Santa Claus and his elves. Again the job centre would be a good place to look for this kind of work.
Christmas Catalogues
If you need something more flexible than a part time job then you may find being a Christmas Hampers agent is suitable. You can generally work the hours that suit you, collecting orders from your friends and family. You can request more info about getting a park hampers Christmas agent job here.
Remember that as well as earning some extra cash seasonal jobs are a great opportunity to get work experience and develop skills.
