Turning Play Time into Something Special

Kids love to play games that allow them to utilize their imaginations and that also allow them to expend some of their built up energy. As a parent it can be difficult to continuously come up with new ideas to keep your kids entertained, without relying too much on television and other forms of digital entertainment. Fortunately, toy train tables offer you a platform of endless opportunities for play time, learning activities and parent child interactions.

Mommy-and-Me Time

Engaging with your child is important. It helps to establish a healthy attachment style, it improves their self-esteem and it provides them with the emotional support needed to develop into healthy kids. A toy train table can enhance the opportunities that you have to engage with your child in a number of ways. Your first option, for example, is to play games upon the table with your child. These games can be follow the leader games, storytelling games or other similar games.

Another option that you have is to utilize the table as a learning environment. Your role will be to create learning activities that you and your child can complete. For example, you can set up a toy train set and begin normal play, but then ask your child questions about the table top environment that will teach them such concepts as counting, color identification, identifying similarities and differences and identifying position.

Independent Play

The design of the toy train table makes it a great platform for independent play and learning. It has a large surface area that is flat and smooth. It also has a height and design that makes it easy and safe for kids of all ages to use. These characteristics make it the perfect location to play with toy trains, to play with building blocks and to even complete art projects.

Encouraging independent play is something that parents need to do. This encouragement can come from recommendations that you make to your child about what they can do to keep themselves entertained. It can come from activities and materials you give to your child. And it can come from ideas that you find with your child online or from watching an educational program on television. For example, you may watch an episode of Between the Lions and decide that your want to create your own books. You can then provide your child with the materials needed for this project and set them up at the toy train table to complete their activity.
